G’Day Folks. Having the correct pipe sizing & solids settlers are important aspects of any Aquaponics design if you want the system to run efficiently. In this clip I run through my choice of pipe & a small mishap I had making the radial flow settler that set me back a bit.

Hope you enjoy this Aquaponics update & your gardens are booming.
Cheers all. 🐟 🌱🍅

G’Day Folks. Things were sounding a tad quiet down the back when I got to the house yesterday.
Is a good thing there’s no fish in the system at the moment.
Hope to have a renovation update clip posted some time in the next day or two when I get some spare time.
Cheers all.
Hope you enjoy this quick update & your gardens are booming.

setting up a new system as you have inspired me to get into aquaponics. I will be using redclaws insted of fish. I was wondering if you have a layout of your setup as that is what I will be basing my setup on. My first question is in regards to the sump. How big is it needed to be based on my main tank will be a full 1000l ibc for the craws. Do I need to dig a hole for the sump to sit in. Looking forward to your reply. regds Peter from Townsville

Hey Rob, i've been lurking on your videos for a couple years now and have learnt a lot so thanks for sharing your quality content. I just started my YouTube career and uploaded a video of my system ive had running in this format for 6 months. It's powered by a solar and battery set-up. 2500L, 3kg of Jade Perch and .5kg of Tandanus in Western Sydney, may interest you.

Hi Rob, absolutely love your channel. Im from Toronto Canada and our weather here is quite cold for an aquaponics setup. I currently run an indoor hydroponics setup with 12 plants. Anyways, i had a question for you – how did you design those diagrams and visuals of the system? You had a few of those in your other videos. Do you have a special program to create those? Anyways, much love from Canada – keep doing what youre doing! You have a fantastic following 🙂

two questions, 1 can I use red claw crayfish in sted of fish in an aquaponics system I want to setup. All from scratch and the first time I have ever done the aquaponic, hydroponic thing, 2 could you show the setup for floating raft setups as I wish to use one or more in the setup Cheers and absolutly learning loads from your vids..

Welcome to the jungle…We bought a couple of 12000 ltr/hr pumps from the local big box store recently and have had one of them working now for about 8 months to move water around from four gravel, one floating bed and two IBC fish tanks (about 900 ltr each). There is no issue at present but your mention of a "jungle' reminded me of the results of us going away for a week during the early summer last year and returning to an area of various spinach crops so deeply overgrown we needed to use the whipper tool to get to the sump pump. The sump (about 800 ltr, is under the (only 180 mm deep) floating bed which we use for mainly winter crop lettuce plants. There is a pair of 120 ltr drums used as filters between Fish IBCs and the IBC cut down sump/bed arrangement.
I had set up the AQ system on a similar ground plan to that which you have done and even found a tin box large locker (at the dump shop – $15-) which we mounted for the electrical an 'dry' stuff. Do you have any advice about setting out a system using the five IBC tanks I started out with? I am intending to build a new one in a few months so planning now would be best begun soon. our advice (an d inspiration) have been the basis of my past two set ups along with the four "barrel ponics" systems you offered up in your videos…and they have all been entirely successful. Any advice would be appreciated.

In my area I find magnetic Drive pumps 10 to collect a lot of minerals in the area where the magnetic field is the strongest and eventually it stops the pump. It's the biggest problem with my moms yard fountains out at the cottage mostly because we fill it with spring water
