the only time you dont need felt is if its an unheated structure garage outside porch etc lol fn tards
Excellent piece on the actual physical work. Thanks Bob!
if you were charging only 30 bucks a square wouldnt u use the least amount of matrials to
I thought Bob Villa knew something about building and construction! I guess not! This guy roofing is clueless and not a roofer! I have never heard of some one installing shingles straight to a wooden surface with out an under layment!
Holy smokes this wouldn't fly today.
please tell me why no felt paper
You don't need an underlayment…., whatttt??? When was this video done??/ And where??? Not in Florida…anyway=)))Holy Crab…..
A felt to absorb moiture and condensation to protect the wood from rodding and mold. The signle will dry and crackb eventually.
The comments below that mention "no safety harness" must be from beginner roofers. I bet they wear helmets on their bicycles.. The important thing here is that roofing felt should be used, period! And not full of those goddamn staples that are so popular with young know-it-alls!!! Use cap nails to hold the felt down. Staples are only for temporary holding and should be used sparingly. Now that ice guard is available that should be used also.
What's with the bulllshit high-nails!?
Felt helps shingles from the wood sucking the tar from them. I bet it was reroofed in 1990.
lol…1980 for Real!
They weren't pussies back in the 90's unlike now that they force kids to wear helmets when riding a tricycle LOL
We're raising a generation of pussies!
Holy crap $30 a square?? When was this filmed? 1980? HD and Lowes have the cheapest 3-tap shingle for $28 a bundle. 3 bundles = 1 square so that is like $84 per square!!
This was uploaded on YouTube in 2011. I don't believe it was filmed in 2011. This seems to be an older segment. If I had to say IMO I would guess mid 1990's ( check out the clothes)
Unreal!
LOL DIDN'T EVEN TAR PAPER.
Dumb and dumber, 2011 on TV and no safety harness
