I think eupean countries could learn from this. The amount pollution vs trees filters is outrageous. China is a bad comparison their air is poor. I don't know about America either.

Some calculations about the cost of building this green wall. The area is 8000 km by 15 km. Let us assume (note: this assumption is about 100 times higher as the original plan itself!) we want to plant 100 trees per hectare (10 m average distance between trees). This would thus be: 8000 * 15 * 100 * 100 = 1,2 billion trees. Suppose Europe subsidizes planting a tree with 10 euro per tree planted. It would cost Europe 12 billion euros. Divided over 4 years would be 3 billion euros per year. Divided by 28 countries would be (on average) just over 100 milion euros per country per year for 4 years. Peanuts! Consider that Africa gets looted for 41 billion euros per year. And carbon credits gets returned and it would reduce the number of people that migrate to europe! So, Europe should pay for it as compensation for centuries of slave trade, colonisation and existing neo-colonial looting of africa. Just as a small compensation. It can proof to be less costly as having to accept millions of refugees and/or having to pay north african countries for taking back refugees (which end up in miserable refugee camps or are dropped in the middle of deserts or slave camps….).

But WHY they didng put cow dung in the sand? This soil isn't fertile because it is too much minerals and not enough carbon! Dung&shit remnant is ion holder, a buffer!
Elements of life: Ca, Mg and Fe…
The sand is dead not because lack of water, but lack of moisture&ion holders!
Desert is so transparent, we need sand to beat desert! This sand:

as a layer can hold the water.

Remember, China built roads, railways and airports in Tibet before they invaded and murdered 1.2 million men, women and children. In Papua New Guinea China's mining operations contaminated the water and brought almost no benefits to the people.  Now they hate and despise the Chinese people. Now China drools over Africa's resources! Beware, Africa, China truly is a great Asian Satan!

    Investeer ontwikkelingsgeld in grote moestuinen.
