Lauren Bauman is a Grade 10 student at Rockridge Secondary. She enjoys being involved in the school theatre company, the IMPROV team, Student Council, and is one of the leaders of the Environment Club. This year she has enjoyed leading fundraisers to help raise money for the school garden that is being built this Spring. In her spare time, Lauren enjoys traveling, reading, and being around people. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations) Video Rating: / 5 Atlanta Botanical Garden Tour – For CHS Ideas – Here’s a recent tour to highlight some of the landscape ideas for high school campuses. Instead of concrete, asphalt, brick, steel, Bermuda grass (an invasive weed grass), liriope, and lots of weeds, why not plant shade trees, ornamental trees, shrubs, butterfly gardens, and meadowlands. Add a water feature and use lots of rock/boulders to create contour. Plant a vegetable garden. Create spaces to sit under the shade and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Commingle with nature. Be adventurous, dream big!
