The Master Garden where I primarily garden and co-chair is having a stellar year and I wanted to showcase the work of my fellow EMGs at the Kansas State BackYard Garden
There’s just so much to do in the garden at this time of year, it’s hard to know where to start. We would suggest you prioritize this job, though – and you may just find you have more time to do the other things too…
I believe it’s traditional to hang a hammock between two apple trees at the bottom of the garden, and fall asleep there in the shade. We live in Ireland though, and lack of shade is rarely a problem. Avoiding downpours and gales is a much more pertinent quest, so we have hung ours in the polytunnel since we built it 6 years ago.
Sadly ‘old faithful’ rotted away last winter. We were sad to see it go because it was a wedding present and an excellent hammock. Our new one arrived from China yesterday. Just in time too – things were getting pretty serious without one. We’re trying it in the new tomato shed. So far, so good…
And yes, we realize very many people are not as lucky as we are to have a hammock and somewhere to hang it. We are fortunate indeed. For many years we also had nowhere to grow things and nowhere to go for a bit of peace and space. That is why we appreciate these things so very much, and why we urge you – if you can – to enjoy these things too. (BTW, the shed is entirely homemade using secondhand timbers and door, and the hammock cost 15 euro.)

Awesome garden! I need to talk to my local extension office to see if I could help with one line that. Thanks for showing us.
Thank you for the tour! It’s beautiful!
Oh my days. I am so inspired. This is my idea here in my country. Love
The garden is beautiful!!
Omg yessss I have the same hammock! I hang it on my balcony in the Big City though. It's still very relaxing. Cheers!!
A great video. Expecting some hard labour, but you had the right idea ! Greetings from Wales.
This reminds me of a bit of advice about the importance of proper mulching: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pOF0kPAKfM
Its Bobs fault his behaviour is infectious
LOL! Only difference here, it'd be on the porch in the shade for it's already hot here in May.
🙂
that was good one
Dear Brendan, You certainly have life's priorities in good order!! Sweet dreams!
At first I thought you were going to talk about saving bees when I saw the pictures of flowers. LOL
To bee or not to bee…napping!!
Have a wonderful week of lazy gardening!
Best wishes,
Dianna
looks like I've been gardening right for years.
You both always make me smile. I really appreciate the generosity of your contributions and the sheer pleasure with which you do things. You make really hard graft look soooo damn easy. x
One of my favorite episodes yet! Important to remember to pause in our long, long days! I so enjoy the soundtrack behind your blog, sometimes I just work with it in the background, an open window to Ireland! Can't attend the open house from Sonoma County, California…but will have some tea and cake out by my beehives and wish you all a great day!
The perfect approach indeed.
Title is great! Good belly chuckle at the end. Thanks. I feel like I had one too. Vicky
Gosh, you guys get some big UGLY spiders around there. ((shiver)) Not that I ever saw a pretty spider….
Important knowing your priorities!
My favorite way to nap.
The title on this is serious click bate,
This man has his life sorted!
Best Wishes. Brendan.
