Yours looks nice. Can I ask you, what did you or can you do when you have large tree roots that cannot be removed, but you still want to put stone around it? I have tried, but it looks horrible, because of needing spacing for the large roots.
Mulch will degrade into humus. Taking out old mulch makes your soil poorer. The trick is to continually add new mulch. Don't chuck out old dirt, and do run your cut branches thru a chipper. You just threw out a ton of nutrients, which you then had to rebuy from the garden shop.

The crescent edgers are only available at Menard's. You cannot order them online. You have to go to a store and they aren't nationwide. Bummer, since that's the part that caught my eye and now I can't do it.
Clean neat and tidy but boring.
Yeah we only use plants with thorns around the perimeter of our property. It helps in keeping the mountain lion that comes around out of our yard. Lol so if you don't have a big cat problem those plants are a pain.

I really like that you cleaned to show how much better your home can look without tearing out planting & trees and replanting the flower beds (wasted $$$.) Your place looks really nice!
You did a great job !! But like our neighbors they did the same and put in 24 land landscaping lights we actually had to go and buy special curtains to block out the light in our bedrooms so we could go to sleep at night just a little heads up on the lights …but you did a great job…!

Save the old mulch and let it compost into the soil. It will help feed your trees, shrubs and plants.
This should be a no brainer for all home owners and be maintain year round…..makes not only the neighbors happy but does wonders for we proud owners.
