Today we are going to make a couple of cedar planters out of cedar fence slats. Each planter is about 8″ (w) x 7″ (h) x 4′ (l) and costs around to make. You can get the cedar slats at your local home improvement store. You could use a different type of wood, but cedar is great at resisting rot so it is good for this type of application.
This build can easily be done with just a hand saw, some clamps, and outdoor wood glue.
