I would be very leery of using pallets that I haven't purchased new or made myself for growing food. Pallets, especially those used for shipping things from overseas, are sprayed with god knows what, and many are used over and over and possibly had dangerous chemicals spilled on them.

Pallets are great for building artsy-fartsy things and planters for non-food plants, but I would never use them for growing food or building containers to hold food.
