Do it yourself mini greenhouse…Easy, cheap, fun, yet educational project to do with the kids! All you need is a cardboard box (18″ or taller) X 24-36″, foil, one CFL bulb (ours is 60W), bulb socket and extension cord. I inserted the extension cord and bulb socket through a hole on the plastic cup that rests on top of the box to prevent the bulb from touching the box and falling through.

Thanks for the great tip! Thank you for your kind words 🙂
With LED bulbs (blue + red, 400 to 700nm) will have less power consumption.
Bela is sweet. 🙂
Thank you for your nice compliment and for watching 🙂
omg your kids are so adorable.
Hi Pamlindell, Good Morning! I'm glad that you found this helpful! We can always learn new things and it's good for the mind and soul 🙂 I hope that you enjoy gardening and have fun doing it 🙂 Thank you so much for watching and have a wonderful season! ~Misilla
Thank you! They love learning too 🙂
It's the bulb socket I can never remember!
Just a CFL bulb equivalent to 60 to 75 watts, a bulb socket and extension cord you can pick up at any hardware store. I usually leave the light on 12 hours per day.
How did you make the grow light?
Hi Lee Ann, Thank you for your kind compliment. We're going to make another box soon…our kids love to garden it's so wonderful! Thanks for watching, Misilla
Thank you so much 🙂 Sorry for the late reply!
That is such a cool idea. Could you tell your daughter she is smart for growing her own garden? I think I might make one of those boxes myself!
Will do Ray…My mom showed me when I was young too, but I didn't really get into it till the last 4 years…boy am I glad I did! What an important lesson to learn and to teach children…to be in touch with nature is something that we need to acknowledge and cherish more 🙂 Thanks again!
Teach her well. She'll grow up to teach her daughter someday. It's one heck of a great thing to pass on to a child. 🙂
Great video. It's good to see little kids getting into these skills. Cool greenhouse system. Fun and good for survival.
