I show how to connect and purge hoses when recovering refrigerant from an a/c system.
Please do not be confused by the R-410A gauges. My R-22 gauges were broken and I was forced to use my R-410A gauges.
Attention: Do not try any of what you see in this video at home. It takes at least two years of HVACR schooling to become qualified to learn in the field how to work on heating and air conditioning equipment. Then it takes another three years of apprenticeship training to become competent enough to safely work on heating and air conditioning equipment.

I have an sman4 but I don't use it for recovering gas.
I hope that by now you are using the field piece sman and do away with all the other equipment. Do you use a filter on your hoses….. Good video but I am sure your upgraded by now.
hi rand
if r22 is recovered from a leaking system without fixing the leak and vacuuming the line, what would remain in the line? Thanks
Can the recovery machine be re-charge the recoverd refrigerants back to the unit? And how ?
What do you use to charge the used R22 freon back into the unit ?
The used r22 freon took out from the unit ,can be charged them back in?
i came here to read hater comments
were you greyfurnanceman?
I don't like the hoses that have check valve in the end. I like the kind with ball valves attached.
If you wanted to recharge the gas that you had recovered; how do you account for the gas that is left in the recovery machine?
Can you get your EPA online?
Hi Dr. Z. I wanted to ask you when you are evacuating a system and you get below 500 microns is it necessary to turn off the pump and isolate the system to see if you get a rise in microns? I usually pull the vacuum below 500 microns and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes to see if the reading goes up. Is this necessary or am I just wasting my time?
In Europe we are not allowed to purge any gas to the atmosphere. Before opening guages to sistem we have to vacuum all lines.
Would be easier to purge last hose at the tank while it is loosely threaded on. tighten hose while purging then open tank. When you purged and stopped with an open end hose you allowed air back in the hose.
If you recover air along with Freon into your recovery tank, can the air be released back out of the tank without releasing Freon… say after its been sitting a day or more ?
An RV A/C roof unit that uses R22, can it be converted to run R134A after a complete vacuum?
Hi dear, my question is if there's not any label on my unit to red about freon how do I know what kind of freon it is in my unit ?
what are the negative numbers on the top row on the scale display? lbs?
Only if you're planning to open the system for repairs.
