There are multiple ways to root or clone tomato suckers. For hydroponics, it needs to be done without soil. One of the easiest ways is with the use of growplugs. They hold a good amount of moisture, while still providing proper aeration. A couple of things to remember, keep them out of direct sunlight during the rooting process. And make sure you have some type of cover over them to maintain good humidity levels. Doing so will greatly increase your chances of success.

Hello,
if you had to plant these tomatoes in a soil bed instead of hydroponics, would you wait a few more days days so they could get better roots or they are okay to be planted at this point (2 weeks) ? Thank you
ok this explains the suckers lol thanks
I like your attitude about sharing plant information from other sources. You remind me of my family back in Kentucky who always planted to much so they could give away extra. Keep up the good work.
wow that's amazing how fast they root. I will definitely try this.maybe a neighbor still has tomatoes plants. 🙂
Do you have any tricks on how to get the gallon buckets apart if they are stuck?
EXCELENTE.
can these methods work with chili's plant?
Love your simple and straight-forward method and no-nonsense speaking style. thank you.
i have been growing "beefstakes" but idk if there the same as what you have been growing"big beef" could you please send me a message of the exact mane of the ones you grow, i am here in Ohio the ones i have do really well, but if i could get a few more, that would be ok to. thanx alot, and regardin the video, i raise worms(worm farm) alot, to start all my seeds in then top dress the beds when i plant, and that stuff is great, but all my clones from tomato plants, i just fill a 16 oz dixie cup, will small hole in bottom, stick the sucker (raw) into cup, and roots are poppin out in about 3 to 4 days, just water them good for the first 2 days, and there good, but love the video, thanx again
Wow! how informative.. had no idea that i can take a mature tomato plant and make another by cutting a piece of it.
Lots of people on YouTube have high success rates rooting tomato cuttings in plain water with or without rooting hormone. If you don't have to spend money on something – don't. But if you find something appealing, convenient, and worth the expense, by all means do so. For some a tray full of plugs will be a lot more convenient than a lot of water filled jars which can fall, break, or spill. Options are good.
I put my sucker's straight in a bucket, with potting soil outside, they Wilt but they come back up. I think ur way is faster though cuz to get roots it takes mine a week and a half to get small roots and I put them in a individual pot afterwards
No need to reduce food on your clones they can eat the same as the mother plants. They're not babies they're clones
Gosh you are smart!!! Thanks
I need to start doing this with my heirloom Tomatoes that I grow for the restaurants,,thanks for video. I prefer to stay away from rockwool. i will give your method a try soon.
