One of the most popular aspects of the Los Angeles Drought Tolerant Plant Festival is “Kid’s Day.” Educational exhibits and activities are sponsored by the Los Angeles Cactus & Succulent Society (LACSS), a community-oriented organization now in its 80th year. Hand’s-on activities and exhibits introduce children and parents to gardening and fascinating aspects of succulents. My favorite was the potting table, where volunteers help kids select small rooted succulents, pot them up, and add topdressing.
