I like the pencil mark on the top pot in the 2nd project, looks like this was one that was to be cut and then someone changed their mind. some neat ideas, will be in my garden this spring.

In the first project, what backing did you use and how did you cut the pots without breaking them?
I think plastic pots would last longer and will prevent cracks.
