helped a lot thank you
Tote.
you bought a extra box to put you air pump in??? Can i shoot you? that's a waste of money, you could have just mounted it on the main box… and the air pump is gonna heat up in an enclosed space
omg so complex for nothing :O
Also forgot to mention that the air tubing should be kept free from as many bends as possible and that is another reason that your air pump placement is far less than ideal.
Placing the air pump above the water line is better. There will be less back pressure, dramatically increasing the life of the air pump diaphragm. Not to mention the pump is being enclosed and has no passive cooling effect ie some kind of heat transfer into ambient air. Also, the heat from the air pump bellows will heat the bucket water in an uncontrolled manner.
this is a lot of work and expensive. you can buy DWC kits for less.
if you add nutrients how would you change the water in your reservoir without damaging roots!?
Whilst the bottom is good for keeping thing neat and tidy the air pump should always be above the water line, not below it. Not only that but keeping an air pump in a box will not only overheat it, but reduce the amount of air it has to work. Better off just completely skipping the secondary bottom box.
Wast of money! You could have mount it any where in the main container!
Using pressure treated 2X4 is a no-no. The chemical used to preserve the wood is poison. This will leach into the water and the veggies. If the wood is still damp when purchased you may as well pour the preservative into your water from a bottle.

Hey do you know if your container is food grade? If mot you can end up with plastic in your wayer system due to degrigration of the box.
Hello Kenny
I have had some good results with inexpensive Ex cut flower water buckets planting and growing potatoes, carrots, leeks and beans etc in them. I grow these outdoors on my Patio. Is a Deep Water Culture Bucket System suitable for using outdoors? I was thinking that rain could be an issue.
awesome
blue fukin peter for ganja just show us u makin it
Yeah, all that for lettuce and spinach – who you kidding.
The results of my DWC system for anyone who's curious. DWC Hydroponic Pepper Plant
The drawback to hydroponics is that you need to shop for "plant food" or nutrients and supplements that can be more costly.
