Hello there! I have just made my first two towers. One using 1,5l bottles and one with 0,5l. The bigger one is waiting for tomatoes to sprout (I have a special hanging tomatoes for this one) and the smaller one was made for salads.
I have one problem tho. As a growing medium I used ceramic grain in the bottom and the rest I filled with soil, and the soil clogs the first bottle so the water flows very little. What medium would be the best for a bottle garden that's hanging outside of the window?

What they said…  Great idea! Need better camera angles next time…And, In the time it took you to "explain" how you put everything together, you could've put everything together so we could get a better idea.

It's good it black but you should now put a coat of white paint to reflect sunlight!
And possibly something for the plants to grow over so they are not cutting and scrapping their stems as they grow out and drop.

Ive just decided not to try this idea , as plastic water bottles contain harmful chemicals that are released over time and from the sun …. Look it up !

You could also use a CAD program to make a pattern. Which you can lay over the bottle to make the cut-out with i.e. an exacto knife. The bottle doesn't have to be frozen, which will result in less mess and rusted out tooling!

easy. Buy a Vivit at http://vivit.gomes.green – super easy, reliable and very little work to setup and maintain. Inside or outside. Bigger versions are available – also on round or ball shaped surfaces

It would be nice to be informed about what materials your using (special wall? wall covering?), how you're using them (wall cover, plants etc.), how you're securing everything, etc.. How do you care for a living wall, fertilize, and maintain the plants, how and where do you water the plants without getting the drain off on your floor. Basically I would like to know HOW TO MAKE (and keep) a Living Wall. ….I get the concept of Vertically Stacking Plants, yep, that's pretty self explanatory. However, the rest….the rest is the actual HOW TO I think? Blogs are tough cause there is so much sifting through a lot of info. over a lot of time. I just wanted to know the basics before I dive in all the way! Can You Help?

I like your idea.I would be interested to know what materials used in the wall, textil material?
