Decorative winter veggies such as kale, chard, even curly lettuce give some substance to tulip plantings. Tulips have never lasted well in Atlanta and even Post properties, famed for their mass plantings, simply pull them up and throw them out after they bloom. These bulbs need colder winters to continue to bloom.
