David Yount, Green Sanctuary Committee Member at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Duluth, comments on the installation and use of a green roof. Minnesota Sea Grant spoke to homeowners and business professionals in the greater Duluth area who use environmentally friendly stormwater tactics to cut down on pollutants entering lakes and streams. These pollutants running from roofs, pavement, and other surfaces account for 70% of all runoff pollutants and can be reduced through rain gardens, pervious pavers, rain barrels, and the like.
