This is my DIY hydroponic system. I got the basic idea from other online DIYers who built their own hydroponic systems. If you’ve ever wanted to grow your own greens, this is truly an amazing way to do it with minimal space. Material highlights: – 2×4 wood to build basic structure – PVC piping (4″ diameter) with 3.5″ holes for net pots – Tubing for pump and water collection – A strong wall storage tote to hold water (make sure it does not let sunlight in which will promote algae growth) – Pump (mine is an Everbuilt Submersible Utility Pump) – Timer for pump (mine is a Tital Controls Apollo 6 – 15 minute interval timer) – Casters (optional – depending on if you want the structure to be movable) – Net pots and clay balls – Nutrients (fertilizers, hydro sparkle, pH test kit) – Seeds What I grew (make sure the plants you choose grow well in the same conditions): – Swiss Chard – Kale – Tomatoes – Basil – Rosemary Other notes: – Pricing: all together this system cost me about 0 to make – Lights can be added for better yield in the winter months but this also depends on how much natural sunlight your system gets based on where it is Have fun with it and get growing!
