Denise Cahill told us that the health city of the future does not view people 65 years and over as dependent but rather as active participants and contributors in “Cork — City of Health, City of the Future”. Denise Cahill is a Senior Health Promotion Officer with the Health Service Executive. Denise has a BSc. in Sport & Exercise Science and a Masters in Health Promotion. Denise has worked as a researcher in the area of Pubic Health but her real passion is health promotion and she has worked in this area for the past 12 years. Denise has worked in the areas of Schools Health Promotion, Physical Activity and Tobacco Control. In more recent years she has developed her understanding and commitment to community health promotion and has coordinated the health profile of Cork City in support of World Health Organisation recognition of Cork as a Healthy City. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations) Video Rating: / 5 Related PostsToronto Public Health: Toward a Healthy CityHealthy City Week 2015 – Dr. William Bird MBE: “Creating A Natural Health Service”What is a Healthy City? Cork? City of the future? That's the funniest thing I've seen on Youtube in a long time. Cork is not even a city. It's a collection of buildings on a bog, full of inbred redneck bog-trotting white trash who can't even speak English yet. Cork, or caaaaark as it's commonly known, is the worst dump in Europe, an embarrassment to a wonderful country like Ireland. City of the future? They're still living in the last century, calling themselves rebels. More like Rabble. Still, always good for a laugh.
