Here is a look at how I built our oak sleeper retaining wall for the patio. The wall is built on sloped ground but we wanted to ensure we had a nice level top that would serve as a place to sit and also border the paving stone.
We will have freely draining gravel behind the sleepers however you may want to use some drainage pipe to make sure there is no build up of water behind, especially on larger walls.

hi
I'm wanting to build a six row retaining wall with Sleepers, will cementing them in pockets with the screws work for a higher wall? great videos I'm learning alot!
Fantastic video as always. Ordered our sleepers for a bank holiday project in the garden to build a retaining wall with steps up from the patio. What length stainless steel screws and coaches did you use?
That is pretty reasonable actually. showed this to the missus, she was impressed (it takes a lot – believe me)
Nice – how much did that little lot cost ?
Nice job I bet they weren't cheap
Great work. Thanks for sharing.
Nice job so far! Looks really neat, you're making quick progress with your garden!
