The Animal Legal Defense Fund, the Humane Society of the United States, Farm Sanctuary, and the Humane Farming Association filed a motion to intervene in U.S. District Court in Fresno, in a lawsuit being brought by meat industry trade associations attempting to overturn a California law banning the use of sick and disabled animals in the food supply. California law was recently strengthened to protect animals and humans after an HSUS investigation at a Chino slaughterhouse exposed horrific abuse of downed cows—many of whom were destined to become ground beef in the National School Lunch Program.

This video is so distributing, but I think its important it gets seen to spread the message about animal cruelty in the food industry. Employees used inhumane tactics to move the cattle such as beating, kicking, dragging and spraying them in the face with high pressure hoses and heavy equipment. About 143 million pounds of beef was recalled due to the plant employees allotment of "downer" cattle to be slaughtered.
